About Access Chapter 2
Access Chapter 2 (AC2) works to protect and promote the human right of LGBTQI people. The aim to expand its reach to people who lack access to services.
Vision of AC2
A world where LGBTI+ people in their diversity have equal access to human rights.
Mission of AC2
The four stories they have been successful on are:
1. During November 2023, Access Chapter 2 was officially registered as a Law Clinic by the Legal Practice Council, which was a milestone for the organization and community.
2. AC2 was able to successfully refer a beneficiary to get help with gender affirmation health care at Seraleng clinic. That is inclusive of phycosocial support which is the first step of the process, and now she has also been on hormonal therapy for 3 months to aid her to affirm her Gender. This was not previously happening so it happening is a paramount progress.
3. AC2 Legal Unit was able to aid a client in getting his case to go to court after brief challenges. The legal proceedings are ongoing and AC2 will continue to watch brief the case until Justice is served to the Victim.
4. Back in February, AC2 conducted a human sexuality training to SAPS workers after reportings of rising stigma and discrimination and secondary victimization experienced by queer identifying persons when reporting human rights violations cases. Since the training they have fostered a good relationship with the SAPS. There has been less reportings of secondary victimization and this has led to other SAPS facilities in Bojanala reaching out to AC2 requesting the same services for themselves for educational purposes.
